Preservatives & Additives

The importance of eventually eliminating foods which are artificial (fake sugars, fake fats) and which contain a wide variety of poorly-tested chemical preservatives was discussed in more detail in the
Food & Nutrition article on this web page. It is strongly recommended that you start by printing out and reading that file for coroporate-neutral information about holistic health nutrition.

Clearly, anyone who has the slightest desire to avoid disease or heal themselves must avoid the more obvious toxic substances such as aspartame/neotame, Monosodium Glutamate (and it's secret label names: MSG, hydrolyzed proteins, autolyzed yeast, yeast extract, caseinates, "natural flavors"), and Olestra/Olean fake fats. Beyond this, it is important to gradually and completely eliminate all preservatives, additives, coloring, artificial sweeteners (e.g., Sunnette/acesulfame-k, Splenda/sucralose, saccharine, NutraSweet 2000, etc.), and other dangerous and unhealthy ingredients. The idea of eliminating these chemicals may be daunting at first, but the process becomes relatively easy if most or all foods and snacks are purchased at a large natural foods / health foods grocery store. The labels still should be looked at, but such stores often will not allow much chemical junk in their foods.

It is important to understand that none of the chemical junk discussed above has been tested on a long-term basis in humans. The combinations of various additives has not been tested as well. Anyone ingesting such chemical junk is blindly submitting themselves to a dangerous experiment and certainly preventing significant healing from taking place. It is very clear from truly independent research that aspartame and MSG are quite dangerous and unhealthy. Other artificial sweeteners and fake foods are also clearly dangerous. Recent independent research into the effects of food additives have shown that they can contribute to significant changes in behavior, migraines, and other health problems.

It is true that a percentage of people who find a good balance of macronutrients (e.g., protein, carbohydrates) for their current condition often feel better even without eliminating the unhealthy foods. However, there will often be limited improvement and very possibly serious illness later on should that person continue to ignore the importance of avoiding toxic and unhealthy foods.
